#PRChatAfrica: How PR Can Be Used To Empower African Women

Our special guest was Nana Darkoa Sekyiamah, Founder of Makeda PR , a Communications, Events and Public Relations Company that specialises in working with women’s rights organisations, and the creative sector. Nana Darkoa is a writer and blogger as well as the Co-Founder of Adventures from the Bedrooms of African Women, an award winning blog that focuses on sex and sexualities. She is the author of a ‘Communications Handbook for Women’s Rights Organisations’, co-author of ‘Creating Spaces and Amplifying Voices: The First Ten Years of the African Women's Development Fund’, and edited ‘Women Leading Africa: Conversations with Inspirational African Women’. Nana’s short stories have been published in ‘It Wasn’t Exactly Love’ published by Farafina, and ‘The Pot and Other Stories’ published by FEMRITE. Nana Darkoa is a graduate of the University of North London with a BSc (Hons) in Communications and Cultural Studies and holds a MSc in Gender and Development from the London School of Economics. Ronke Lawal, Founder of Ariatu PR will be hosting the session and hopes to encourage an active dialogue on how PR can be used to empower African women.
