Gateway Chapel Hosts Community Health Awareness Day 2015
On Saturday 25th July 2015; Gateway Chapel, a vibrant community oriented church based in Kent, South East England, will host a community health awareness Day. The Health Awareness Day is aimed at raising awareness for the prevention of cardiovascular diseases and is hosted in partnership with Diabetes UK, Stroke Association, the British Heart Foundation, British lung foundation and The British liver trust. Public Health England and NHS health-checks will also be part of this important community event.
More than 500 members of the public attended their 2014 event held in Bexleyheath town centre. One hundred and ten people had a blood pressure check and advice from the Stroke Association and 80 people had advice from Diabetes UK on recognising the early signs of diabetes.
At the 2014, Dr Howard Stoate, Chair of NHS Bexley CCG, said: “Working with community and faith organisations is an important way of ensuring that health information and advice reaches as many of Bexley’s residents as possible. It was great to see so many local charities and voluntary groups working together to raise awareness of cardiovascular disease”.
Gateway Chapel has always been passionate about serving its local community. The Church recently raised over £3000 for Ellenor, Kent based charity which undertakes hospice care for the terminally ill across Kent.
